Health Services

For countless people living in remote regions of the world, where medical specialists are rare and extreme poverty is a way of life, quality medical care is often out of reach. To fill this critical gap, IRT deploys teams of skilled surgeons who perform life-transforming surgeries; and teams of trained volunteers who conduct vision tests and provide corrective eyeglasses to the poor.  Since 2012, IRT has deployed three surgical teams to Honduras, and conducted 125 surgical procedures. We have also screened 5,039 people for eyeglasses in Guatemala and Honduras, and distributed 4,135 pairs of glasses, enabling children to fully participate in school, and adults to earn a living to support their families.

IRT’s surgical and vision outreach programs give hope and new beginnings to the marginalized poor in low-income countries.
